Muhlenbergia capillaris 'White Cloud' (White Cloud Muhly Grass)

Description:
Muhlenbergia capillaris 'White Cloud', commonly known as White Cloud Muhly Grass, is a stunning ornamental grass prized for its airy, cloud-like plumes of creamy white flowers that appear in late summer to fall. This clump-forming, warm-season perennial stands out with its fine-textured, blue-green foliage and upright habit, making it a dramatic addition to borders, mass plantings, and naturalistic landscapes. The white plumes persist well into winter, providing lasting interest and a soft, moonlit glow in the landscape. Unlike the pink species, 'White Cloud' blooms slightly later and tends to be taller and more upright, reaching 3–4 feet in height and 2–4 feet in width.

Exceptionally easy to grow, drought tolerant, and deer resistant, this native grass thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, including sandy or rocky sites. It does not spread aggressively and is low maintenance, needing only a light cutback in late winter or early spring. White Cloud Muhly Grass is an excellent choice for pollinator gardens, wildlife habitats, and contemporary designs.
